A (very) social enterprise helping sports clubs to raise money by staging sausage and cider festivals. It's that simple!
We're planning festivals in Leicester, Northampton, Milton Keynes, Brackley, Hinckley and Towcester this year with another location yet to be announced!
The Sausage and Cider Festival Company was set up by Crispin Slee. As mini and junior chairman at Towcestrians RFC, Crispin organises the annual Towcester Beer Festival at Tows, which this year delivered over £10,000 into club funds.
On the back of the success of the Towcester Beer Festival, Crispin launched the inaugural Towcester Sausage and Cider Festival on June 4 2012. It was an immediate hit and as a result, he had the idea to create a social enterprise to help other clubs put on similar festivals, helping them to raise money and allowing him to support three of his life passions – rugby, fun and cider!
All of the sausages for the festivals are sourced from an amazing young man called Duncan Brown. He learnt the art of sausage making in London and returned home to Northamptonshire to set up a gourmet sausage company, Brown’s Gourmet Sausages, on his parents’ pig farm in Wollaston.
Duncan eats, sleeps and dreams sausages and lovingly makes his creations by hand. His thrilling varieties include Anglo-Indian, Thai Chicken and Chilli Beef as well as traditional favourites like Sage and Onion, Pork and Leek, Cumberland and Toulouse.
Duncan uses only the best cuts of British pork and beef, uses no preservatives or additives and makes all of his sausages, which include a gluten-free and vegetarian range, with his own secret seasoning. He makes more than 50 varieties. Take it from us, they are delicious.
