AFO Training Days 2017

AFO Training is open to both AFO members and non-members.

Risk Assessments and Road Closures - the how, what, where and why 
with Andy Grove from HighGrove Events Limited 

Need help with your risk assessments? How do you identify and assess the risk and more importantly, what measures do you need to put in place to ensure the safety of your customers, volunteers, artists, staff and yourselves?

Need advice on road closures and traffic management? When are they needed? How do you get permission? How do you safely manage and staff the extra traffic generated by your event?

Andy will talk you through the legal dos and don’ts and give you examples of good practice.

Whether you are a beginner or have been running festivals for years this course is for you. Send your questions to Andy in advance and he will deliver a tailor-made training session.

Biography: Andy Grove – HighGrove Events Limited
Having graduated from Sheffield Hallam University with a degree in Recreation Management Andy started working on indoor events heavily focused around sport. In 2001 he moved to Basingstoke to join the events team dealing with outdoor events from hot air balloon festivals to multi stage music festivals, and many more. Andy was responsible for all aspects of event management including risk assessments and safety planning. Having progressed in the organisation Andy took on the role of Events Manager in 2010 having already become Chair of the Local Authority Events Organisers Group and started up the Basingstoke Festival which is now a well-established part of Basingstoke’s Culture.
In April 2016 Andy set up HighGrove Events Limited providing professional event management services. Andy joined the General Council of the National Outdoor Events Association in 2009 and is currently the interim President. He is committed to the industry and driving up standards and works hard for the association taking active roles in the rewrite of the Purple Guide, and the guidance on police charges.
