After the terrible events at Manchester Arena some weeks ago and the recent attack on London Bridge, we have received a number of pieces of advice from a variety of organisations. The most comprehensive of which has now arrived from the National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO). Where clearly a great deal of the content of this document is way beyond the measures needed at most of our member festivals, I really do strongly recommend that festival organisers and site managers read the whole document and pick out the bits that they think will be relevant to them in view of the possibility that anything can happen anywhere these days.
It’s not enough to say that terrorism will only strike in prominent and major places and events. The National Association of Arenas, who we have worked closely with on occasions, would never have thought that the incident in Manchester would have happened to them. Read on for some good advice.
