Furlough Scheme Extended to 31 October 2020
The Chancellor, Rishi Sunak has announced (12 May 2020) significant changes to the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, now commonly referred to as the furlough scheme. The scheme had been due to run until at least 30 June 2020. The Chancellor has now confirmed to the House of Commons that the furlough scheme will be extended for a further 4 months until the end of October and kept open for all sectors. By the end of October, the scheme will have been running for eight months.
The Gov. will be spending around £8bill per month on support schemes. It is well received and of course very necessary, but watch out for tax rises when it’s all over. Someone will have to pay it back.
If you have successfully captured a covid grant, or furlough refund or any other HM Gov funding re Covid-19 then please do let us know. We are struggling a little to find who has actually received anything.
