This week sees the UK’s festival and event industry heading to Sandown Racecourse for two days of insights, networking and catching up with the best in the industry on the issues which matter right now.
Here’s our top 5 things not to miss at this year’s show:
1)The drone downlow
A new phenomenon and a difficult thing to manage for event organisers at public events, drones pose a real danger to UK outdoor events and an opportunity in terms of crowd safety, site insight and marketing. Learn from the best about the latest technology and how you can apply it to your events as part of the Safest programme.
2)Unexpected event inspiration
The best thing about events to appeal to the millennial audience is the art of the unexpected and outdoor events that provide pop up entertainment are the most talked about and highly rated. From silent disco pop-ups to immersive theatrical experiences when the audience become extras and a baby Tyrannosaurus Rex, the show floor will have experiences to explore and get inspiration for future events.
3)Get a view on future tech
This year the event is running a technology strand designed to look at real life examples of best in class technology and the trends coming through for 2019 outdoor events season. Learn from PRG and Febo Design on some of the unexpected uses of tech at events and how AV can add real value to the festival experience.
4)Join the conversation about first time festival goers
With a wider festival going audience than ever before, educating first time festival goers on how to look after themselves and others is an increasing issue for event organisers. Jon Drape of Ground Control and founder of Festival Safe will run a two way session with Tom Hall of Access All Areas to share ideas, insights and experiences on how to communicate with the first time festival goer, to tackle issues before they get to your festival sites.
5)Get inspiration on reducing waste and resources
There’s no denying that festival produce a huge amount of waste but Teresa Moore, Director of A Greener Festival will take to the main stage to look how we can all reduce waste without increasing costs to your festivals. Sounds like a no brainer to us!
