Major guidance on markets
The National Market Traders Federation (NMTF) and The Association of Festival Organisers (AFO) have put together ‘Market Matters’ - a guidance document for festival organisers looking to set up markets at their festivals. The guidance includes assessing the value, how to plan the location, operations and services, responsibilities, fees (an important one), recruitment and promotion and how to draw up a good contract that would work well for both parties.
Written by Chris Savage, the Project Manager for NMTF and endorsed by Joe Harrison, Chief Executive NMTF, the document is welcomed by AFO and its members as clearly market traders are a good source of revenue for festivals, but only if handled right. This guidance will go a long way to making sure that they are properly planned and arranged.
Full of guidance, questions and answers and pointers to look at further advice if required. Published on 24 January 2020 and now available in the AFO Members Library www.festivalorganisers.org and via the NMTF website www.nmtf.co.uk
