Who said CDs are dead?

With the enormous rise of streaming, downloading etc. there were some in the industry who thought that the CD business was on its way out.  Well it certainly may be slowing down, but it hasn’t dented the business of Proper Music at the Gateway Business Centre, London.

Drew Hill, Managing Director of Proper Music Distribution Limited, has now announced that Topic Records has come under his management and as the company move into a new, vast warehouse for their ever-expanding business, he sees CDs holding their own.

Sales of artists’ CDs at festivals and events is a good source of extra income for the artist, and for the festival.  The opportunities are there.

Do you have a CD stall at your event?  Please tell us:

  1. ‘Yes, we have’ or ‘No, we haven’t’
  2. If yes, please tell us who run the stall.  Is it the festival itself or do you bring in a company to run it?

Send an email to [email protected]

AFO is conducting a survey on behalf of Proper Music to discover just how many festivals and events have CD outlets when they run their festivals.  We will be glad to hear from you.
