VisitEngland consumer sentiment tracker wave 19

Field work for the latest consumer sentiment tracker was conducted last week 9-13 November, in this we can see the negative force of England’s lockdown, but also the positive news around the prospect of effective vaccines being available in the near future.

Some key points include:

  • People’s moods have received a lift – there is a very significant decline in the proportions feeling ‘the worst is still to come’. This was at 66% in wave 17, 61% in wave 18 and now resides at 40%.
  • Confidence remains subdued, there are further declines in the proportions of UK adults claiming to have already planned or booked their next domestic overnight trip (at 10% and 7% respectively).
  • Just 6% intend to actually take an overnight trip between now and the end of the year (versus 10% last wave)
