Martin Carthy, The Patron of AFO is Hitting 80 years old on Friday 21st May

THE PATRON of AFO is hitting 80yrs old on Friday 21st May.

Martin Carthy has been kind enough to lend his name and full support to AFO for many years.

His undying belief in the traditions and rights of people to gather together in Festivals of all kinds has been with us all the way. His own appearances at festivals throughout the world are always met with resounding cheers and acknowledgement

that here is a musician, story teller ,researcher and all round performer of class. He has appeared as a band member, duo, family trio and quartet .

He has worked in acoustic, electric and a capella. He has appeared at AFO conference and at concert halls everywhere. But his first love has alwaysb een the more intimate settings of small music clubs and the traditional music of England.

After more than a year off due to Covid, he is preparing to get back out there soon and celebrate his 80 years with singers and musicians, organisers and audiences alike.
