Purple Guide Review

Many readers will be well aware of the Purple Guide and its immense value to the outdoor events and festival industry.

It has been some years in the care of the Events Industry Forum overseen by the Health and Safety Executive. However, we all learnt a lot during the pandemic and a good deal of the information gathered has now led to a review of the chapters within the Guide.

The chapters were written by voluntary sub-groups and chaired by that specific subject leader. All of these people are now being asked to review their chapter and make any changes they feel appropriate, or even necessary. In some cases it will be none, in others it will be considerable. In addition to that we have new legislation i.e. Martyn’s Law and a review of Duty of Care is on the horizon. Consideration to crowd control, numbers of SIA staff required and of course, chapters on how to handle pandemics, should that occasion arise again.

Should any readers wish to be involved in the review of ALL the chapters, EIF would be very happy to hear from you. The work is voluntary and for the benefit of the wider outdoor events industry.
